Landlords buying Auckland properties are struggling to get enough rental income to cover their mortgages.
CoreLogic has compiled data on the rental yields earned by property investors across Auckland. In almost all cases, the yield was less than the interest rate that they would be charged to borrow the money.
The yield is the amount of rent received each year as a proportion of property purchase price, before costs such as mortgage interest and maintenance are paid.
