More than $130,000 in fines have been issued to NSW real estate agents during Fair Trading compliance operations in the first four months of this year, according to figures just released.
The latest round of inspections targeted 24 real estate agents across the Sydney metropolitan and Bathurst areas, with 12 agents receiving penalty infringement notices for non-compliance worth $12,650 and a further seven agents issued with warning letters.
Agents in Marrickville, Bankstown, Riverwood, Wolli Creek, Hurlstone Park and Hurstville were among those under scrutiny.
NSW Fair Trading Commissioner Rose Webb said the inspections, conducted between April 29 and May 2, were part of Fair Trading’s routine real estate program, with a current focus on sales and underquoting, strata management, residential land lease communities and qualified trust account audits.
