Luxury real estate agent Nicolette van Wijngaarden has pleaded guilty to two counts of fraudulently misusing more than $3.6 million, the largest real estate fraud ever recorded by NSW Fair Trading.
Unique Estates collapsed in February 2018, with numerous sellers left chasing deposits they were owed, including fashion designer Collette Dinnigan’s $105,000 deposit that buyers of her $2.1 million Milton property had paid into the trust fund.
Dinnigan’s missing money was eventually covered by the Property Services Compensation Fund.
