Tiny and affordable housing has caught the eye of the nation like never before, and it was demonstrated with the auction of two such houses in Christchurch this weekend.

More than 100 people turned out to the auction of the brand new tiny houses built by students at the Ara Institute of Canterbury.

That followed news on Friday that Bunnings had sold more than 50 of its $62,400, 60 square-metre Clever Living homes and had dozens of people waiting to purchase one of the two-bedroom houses.
