Auckland bankrupt builder Hamish Clarke’s appeal against a seven year ban from running a company has been thrown out of the High Court.

According to one creditor he had left a trail of chaos. A receivership report said his company Valiant Homes and five related entities had been working on 13 sites when they collapsed in 2015 owing about $6 million, leading to his bankruptcy in July 2016.

In mid-2017 the Registrar of Companies prohibited Clarke from being a director, promoter or manager of any company for seven years – which Clarke told the High Court in Auckland was too severe, and there had an eight month delay in the investigation against him.
