A pink Barbie-inspired dream house in Palm Beach, owned by the daughter of “Australia’s richest garbo,” has sold for nearly its $24 million price guide.

The candy-colored residence at 104 Iluka Rd belonged to Larissa Malouf, daughter of Ian Malouf, who gained fame after selling his business Dial-a-Dump in 2018 for $578 million.

The sale was handled by LJ Hooker Palm Beach agents Peter Robinson and David Edwards. They also sold the seven-bedroom house next door at 106 Iluka Rd for $25 million in April, which also had familial ties to the Maloufs.

The recently sold two-story, Palm Springs-style property features pink-themed mid-century interiors, elaborate wallpaper, hand-painted murals, and an impressive backyard slide.

The backyard slide by the waterfront is a highlight. The home earns $30,000 a week over summer. Last sold in May 2022 for $18.6 million, the unique beach house was recently on the short-term holiday market, fetching up to $30,000 a week over summer.

The party pad was transformed by Ms. Malouf, who collaborated with interior designer Melissa Collison to create an unparalleled space.

The Iluka Rd momentum continues as Edwards and Robinson have just listed number 68 via an expressions of interest campaign with a price guide of $18 million.

This sophisticated four-bedroom waterfront home was previously listed in September last year with a $20 million guide. After briefly reappearing in May this year with another agent, the LJ Hooker team now has it priced to sell.

“We launched this one now because of the strong results on Iluka Rd recently and the lack of quality waterfronts on the market,” he added.

“Due to those prior sales and solid offers on high-end properties in Palm Beach, there’s momentum for these unique properties. It’s a microclimate here. It was a quiet start to the year, but it’s picking up now.”

Number 68 Iluka Rd, owned by Redback Boots boss Mark Cloros, is a lavishly renovated 1940s house in a prime spot on Snapperman Beach.

Cloros bought the 563sqm property from furniture king Anthony Scali for $11 million in 2021 and spent two years transforming it. Today, it features level grass to the water’s edge with a private ramp, elegant finishes, and spacious interiors overlooking Pittwater and Ku-Ring-Gai National Park.

While Robinson did not reveal the buyers of either 104 or 106 Iluka Rd, he noted high levels of internal migration around the peninsula and from other parts of Sydney.

“It’s often the case here that buyers are predominantly from the Eastern Suburbs or North Shore,” he said.

“They usually already own property here and are looking to upgrade. There’s a bit of shuffling among high-end properties in Palm Beach and Whale Beach, but these are often not permanent residences.”
