Property manager Barfoot & Thompson has failed in its bid to immediately terminate a tenant’s lease after positive meth tests.

The Tenancy Tribunal found that Barfoot & Thompson, could not prove tenant Emma Thomson had caused the meth contamination found at the Kumeu house.

As a result of the decision, Thomson and her husband were able to remain in the house for the three month notice period, which ended on May 20.

The couple moved into the older weatherboard property in November 2018.
