The largest bridge of Kāpiti’s newest expressway has had its first massive beams craned into place.
Spanning the Ōtaki River, the 330-metre bridge is the largest of nine that make up the $330 million Peka Peka to Ōtaki expressway, north off Wellington, expected to open in 2020.
A total of 110 beams, measuring 32.5 metres long and weighing 65 tonnes would be craned onto its columns, project engineer Harry Singh said.
