- From the street it doesn’t look like much, but the view from the back is arguably what has made a modest beachside bungalow in Wellington worth almost $1 million.
Perched atop a ramshackle garden in the Wellington suburb of Island Bay, the three-bedroom property attracted more than 70 groups to open homes, and started a bidding war when it went to auction last week.
The house in Beach St eventually sold for $965,000 – or $315,000 more than its rateable value.
