On walking into Nikki Lovrich’s Mt Eden, Auckland home, it takes a moment to adjust to the confident use of colour.
The living room walls, for example, are a fresh Resene Ocean Green, and she has recently wallpapered her entranceway in black and white stripes, like she always wanted to.
A freelance hair and make-up artist and stylist, Lovrich combines collections of inherited items with objects she’s picked up on her travels. “I treasure everything I own.”
Lovrich calls herself a maximalist, with every corner of the house filled with something of sentimental value. “I’ve been here for 20 years. I used to be a hoarder, but now I curate things… I have worked on having collections and grouping things together and actually have a vision of how I want the house to look.”
