It’s official: tiny homes have come of age.
How else do you explain the intense interest and the increasing number of new tiny homes emerging from just one factory? Not to mention pre-approval by council.
Four tiny houses will leave the NZ Tiny Homes factory in New Plymouth this month, complete with Code Compliance Certificate.
And that’s just the start. The company, run by partners Kylie Thomson and Jamie Cameron, grew its business by 500 per cent last year, building 50 homes in 10 months, and there are 15 new homes to deliver before the end of March.
The pair have a full-time staff of eight, plus contractors, so there are usually 25 people working on their tiny houses at any one time. Four new team members are about to start, and there are franchise agencies in Napier, Coromandel, Tauranga, Hamilton and Raglan. A Christchurch manufacturing base to better serve the South Island is next up.
