A Christchurch-based property owner has been told by a Dunedin city councillor to fix his property or sell it, over fears the building’s historic facade may collapse.

Luke Dirkzwager originally planned to demolish the buildings at 372-392 Princes St and build a new retail and apartment development.

That 2008 proposal was later opposed, but in 2014 he won an Environment Court decision to demolish them but retain the four historic facades.
