A would-be house purchaser says he feels let down by lockdown rules that meant the property he wanted to buy was snapped up by a back-up offer.
Mark Hawthorne was trying to purchase a property in Opua, in the Bay of Islands.
His offer was reliant on a LIM report, finance and building inspection.
But because of the lockdown, he was not able to have an inspection done so could not satisfy that condition.
$2,000 rescue payments for tenants
The vendors also had a clause in the contract that required them to get a council code compliance certificate for two additions that they had never had signed off.
