Mohammed Ali Muttaqi says he’s stuck in an impossible situation.
He and his wife, Anum, are trying to sell their home in Papatoetoe, Auckland and move to a new one in Kumeu.
Both transactions were meant to settle on April 3.

But while the purchaser of Muttaqi’s house has agreed to wait until after the level four lockdown is lifted to proceed with the transaction, the vendor of the Kumeu property has refused.
That has left Muttaqi without the money to complete the purchase of the new house, and paying 14 per cent interest on the outstanding amount for each day the payment is not made.
