The historic mansion Rosemont has sold for $45m, the highest price in Sydney so far this year and a new record price for Woollahra.
The buyer is tipped to be a finance boss who has sold in Vaucluse for $32m.
The chief executive of Balmain Group, Andrew Griffin, and his wife, Yelena Alpatova, are understood to be trading up to Rosemont, which sits on a massive block of more than 3000 sqm.
Despite reports it doesn’t have a harbour view, it apparently does have nice views of the harbour from the first floor veranda.
Griffin and Alpatova are moving from an Olola Ave, Vaucluse, home that they bought for $17m in 2018.
Bay’s Elliott Placks and Raine and Horne Double Bay’s Alex Lyons are known to have been showing buyers through the Griffin-Alpatova residence, Vaucluse, but it’s not known who clinched the $32m deal.
The five-bedroom home sat on 2266 sqm, one of Vaucluse’s largest non-waterfront estates.
The Olola Ave, Vaucluse home, owned by Andrew Griffin and Yelena Alpatova, has sold for $32m.
Meanwhile, Rosemont, which has 10 bedrooms, has been the home for about 40 years of Margot, Lady Burrell, and her late husband Sir Raymond Burrell.
It also has a tennis court and swimming pool.
The Agency’s Ben Collier is understood to have sold it and the result more than doubles the previous Woollahra record, for TV personality Kerrie-Anne Kennerley’s home, which fetched about $23m a month ago.
