Cornwall is one of the quaintest counties in the UK, so it’s probably not surprising that celebrity TV chef Gordon Ramsay has a holiday rental right on the waterfront in the picturesque village of Fowey.

His enviable three-storey holiday home is a converted 263 square-metre bank building, named Trevail House. It has been listed for sale for £2,750,000 (NZ$5.502 million), and it appears Ramsay could make a handsome profit – he paid £1.96 million for the house in 2017, but has spent money “doing it up”.

The town overlooks the River Fowey, not far from the river mouth – there are numerous small craft moored close by and bobbing about on the water.

Listing agency John Bray and Partners says the former bank is a Grade II-listed property, and a well-known landmark in the town.

“Trevail House is a spacious and highly specified four-bedroom townhouse residence, with a delightful water-fronting garden, giving private access down to the shoreline.”

In addition to the house, there is a 70 square-metre commercial space on the ground floor.
