Chaddy’s Charters, a renowned tourist establishment in New Plymouth, has gained numerous accolades. Since 1993, it has been operating near-daily excursions around the Sugar Loaf islands.

Carl Hayman, a native of Taranaki, embarked on his professional rugby journey by joining the Otago Highlanders team. His exceptional skills earned him the role of tighthead prop for the All Blacks, where he proudly represented his country with 45 caps.

In 2007, Carl made a move to Europe and joined Rugby Club Toulonais (Toulon), where his contributions were instrumental in securing three Heineken Cup victories for the team.

After retiring from rugby, Carl returned to his cherished hometown of Taranaki alongside his partner, Kiko. In 2020, they acquired Chaddy’s Charter business and became its proud owners. Carl now serves as our esteemed skipper for Rescue III, enjoying every moment spent at sea.

Kiko Matthews, originally from the UK, initially pursued a career as a science teacher. However, a serious illness prompted a transformative shift in her perspective on life. Kiko ventured into the realm of Stand Up Paddleboarding, establishing a successful business in London. In 2017, she embraced rowing and achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the fastest woman to solo row 3280 miles across the Atlantic Ocean without any support.

Driven by her passion for the environment, Kiko emerged as a dedicated environmentalist. In her efforts to raise awareness about pollution, she embarked on a 7000km journey along the coast of Great Britain, organizing beach cleans every evening in collaboration with local communities.

While Carl assumes the role of boat skipper, Kiko efficiently manages the business operations of Chaddy’s Charters. Additionally, she lovingly cares for their newborn baby, Genevieve Ocean, ensuring the smooth functioning of both their personal and professional lives.
