In a city with a shortfall of 45,000 houses, there’s no shortage of real estate agents, which are part of an industry that occupies more shops and offices in Auckland than anyone else.

As of February the “rental, hiring and real estate services” industry was the largest in Auckland by far, according to Statistics New Zealand data.

Vehicle hire, equipment rentals, property operators, and real estate agents all fell under the blanket category accounting for over 40,000 stores and offices in Auckland.
