Nine hundred new homes could be on the market at “lightening speed” in Cromwell if a plan change gets the green light, its backers say.
Independent commissioners are hearing submissions for and against a proposed plan change to allow a 900-lot residential development to be built in Cromwell, about 60km from Queenstown, opposite Highlands Motorsport Park.
Despite a dearth of affordable housing in the region, most of the 497 submissions received opposed the River Terrace development – including Central Otago District Council.
