- Wainuiomata’s tired and ailing shopping mall looks set for a makeover with confirmation that it has been bought by Progressive Enterprises, owner of the Countdown supermarket chain.
Progressive confirmed on Monday that it had agreed to buy the Wainuiomata Shopping Centre last week, with the intention of redeveloping the site, which already includes a Countdown store.
The company said it was too early to get into much detail about the future look of the mall, which has lost several tenants in recent years, including The Warehouse.
