A couple living in a wealthy Auckland suburb have taken a battle to protect their multi-million dollar property’s rural views to the High Court.
When the couple purchased the home in Coatesville, north-west of the city, they were guaranteed any future build on the neighbouring plot would have minimal impact on their views.
As part of the sales agreement, any future dwelling had to be single level and built where an ‘X’ was marked on the plans, according to a recent High Court decision.
However, the family became suspicious when the owner of the neighbouring section started putting pegs into the ground, away from the designated spot, court documents said.
