Most Kiwis would never have spent this much consecutive time in their homes. We’ve had to quickly adapt to living, working and playing all within the same four walls.

Suddenly low-maintenance apartment living with no grass to mow may not be as appealing as it was when 10 hours a day in the office was the norm. What we want from a home is about to change as we move out of lockdown.

Working from home is no longer the realm of those with a big commute or children, it’s the new norm globally.

Until Covid-19 only half of the New Zealand population had flexible hours and just one-third had the option to work from home, but with the lockdown we’ve shown ourselves and our employers just how much can still be achieved from the kitchen table, and it’s anticipated that working from home will now be a part of our new “normal” for the many, not the few.
