A Darwin real estate agent who fraudulently diverted advertising rebates meant for Elders into his own bank accounts has been sentenced to five years in jail, with a non-parole period of two years and six months.

Chris Deutrom, 50, was found guilty of fraud earlier this month.

Justice Jenny Blokland said Deutrom must have known his conduct was wrong, given his extensive business experience.
