Even significant architectural gems will fall into extreme disrepair when abandoned, and that’s what happened to a historical Hurst Seager house on The Spur in Sumner, Christchurch.
But this house, in the model garden suburb created by architect Samuel Hurst Seager in 1914, has had a reprieve, of sorts. It was sold at auction last week to a local resident who has yet to make a decision about whether to restore the property or demolish it.
