A disgraced former real estate agent has failed to get his licence back after it was stripped from him for sleeping the night at a vendor’s house and subsequently lying to police and disciplinary investigators.
Geoffrey Mairs was found guilty of disgraceful conduct by the Real Estate Agents Authority Disciplinary Tribunal in April 2018 following an incident in February, 2017 where he was caught having slept and showered at his colleague’s client’s Auckland home.
In August he had his licence cancelled, a penalty he appealed at the High Court in May. The former Bayleys agent said instead of his licence being cancelled it should have been suspended with directions for assessment and treatment, if necessary, for rehab.
