Almost a year after the owners of buildings with unsafe facades in busy pedestrian areas were told to secure them, many in Wellington have still not done the work, prompting the Government to tweak its funding criteria.

There are currently 87 buildings across Wellington that pose an “immediate danger” to the public because of masonry that could break free in a earthquake above high-traffic areas.
