The ruler of Dubai has been caught up in Sydney’s cooling property market, losing more than half a million dollars on a Mosman house that went to auction on Saturday.

His highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice-president and prime minister of the United Arab Emirates, is the ultimate owner behind the company on title for the five-bedroom Federation house.

The property was bought for $5 million in late 2016 to be used as the Sydney home of the then-head of Sheikh Mohammed’s Australian operations, Henry Plumptre, and his wife, Michelle. His highness is behind the global thoroughbred stallion operation Godolphin.
