Summer traditionally marks a hiatus in the property market, but not so for a who’s who of rich listers who took time out to finalise a few high-end real estate deals. Take Erica Packer.

The former wife of billionaire James Packer has gifted a house in Vaucluse to her big sister Joanna and her medico specialist husband, David Hunter. Or almost.

The Los Angeles-based Packer retains a 5 per cent interest in the Burrabirra Avenue residence, leaving the majority ownership to her sister and brother-in-law, who have lived at the house in recent years.

The Burrabirra Avenue house was featured as Domain’s House of the Week in 2006 before it sold for $4.3 million.

The four-bedroom house on almost 500 square metres with a swimming pool is fairly basic by the Packer family’s renowned trophy home standards. It is a few blocks from the James and Erica Packer’s matrimonial mega-mansion La Mer that they sold in 2015 for $70 million following their divorce.
