Police have arrested four members of a family that refused to leave their home at the heart of a land dispute in northern Hawke’s Bay.
Bruce Smith, his wife Ruby and daughters Jarna and Kreslea were arrested on Wednesday under a civil arrest order issued by the High Court after they failed to comply with Māori Land Court orders.
They were held in custody overnight and will appear in the High Court on Thursday.
The arrest followed years of dispute over the ownership on a farm near Wairoa.
