The winners of the 2021 Real Estate Institute of Australia National Awards for Excellence have been announced.

Female real estate agents swept the board, winning eight out of 11 of the individual agent categories.

REIA President Adrian Kelly said that from the 83 finalists there was an increase in female candidates in the different categories from previous years.

OBrien Real Estate Carrum Downs agent Michelle Stephens took out the Residential Salesperson of the Year award, adding to her trophy cabinet after also claiming a 2020 Annual REA Excellence Award.

Kathryn Massey from Professionals Michael Johnson & Co in Western Australia (WA) took out the Residential Property Manager of the Year award.

Large Residential Agency of the Year was won by Belle Property in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), while the top gong for Medium Residential Agency went to Warburton Estate Agents in New South Wales (NSW) and Small Residential Agency of the Year went to SJ Shooter Real Estate.

Commercial Agency of the Year was won by Savills from NSW. Guy Randell from Burgess Rawson from the ACT won the Commercial Salesperson of the Year and Jessie Legge from NAI Harcourts North, Tasmania, took out Commercial Property Manager of the Year.

Mr Kelly said that in terms of numbers, NSW won seven of the 20 awards (excluding the President’s award) followed by Victoria with four wins and ACT, WA and Tasmania awarded three each.

Long-term Darwin resident, Tony Pickering received the President’s Award this year. Mr Pickering has more than 30 years’ experience in commercial and residential property and is a previous Real Estate Institute Northern Territory (REINT) president, as well as a popular auctioneer for charity organisations.

The REIA National Awards for Excellence 2021 covers all aspects of the real estate sector, including residential and commercial agencies, residential and commercial sales, residential and commercial property management, business brokers, buyer’s agents, community service, innovation and communications.

Unlike other award programs, which focus on transactions, statistics and profit, the Awards for Excellence are awarded purely on merit following deliberation by a comprehensive judging process.

Held at Mindil Resort and Casin in Darwin and hosted by REINT, the REIA National Awards for Excellence 2021 recognised and celebrated the best of the best in Australian real estate.
