Desmond Downs, 55, bought his first house six years ago and says he couldn’t imagine what life would be like had he not had the wealth boost it has given him.
Downs moved from South Africa 18 years ago and spent his first years in New Zealand relishing the opportunity to pick up and move to a new city or town when he wanted a change.
But eight years ago, he married and his wife, Lisa, started to “nag” him about the need to buy a house.
