A new $10.5 million New World supermarket, named New World The Sands, is opening in Pāpāmoa, Bay of Plenty, this week. Set to launch on Tuesday, the store features eight self-scan stations, six staffed checkouts, 150 parking spots, and a staff of 100. Owned by Mark Troup Paul, who also oversaw New World Newtown’s redevelopment, the store aims to enhance local convenience. Bay of Plenty MP Tom Rutherford previewed the store and expressed excitement for its contribution to the community.
Foodstuffs North Island is also working on multiple supermarket projects, including New Zealand’s largest Pak’nSave set to open next year in East Auckland.
