The remarkable Sydney apartment once inhabited by Kylie Minogue and the late INXS rocker Michael Hutchence, boasting a rooftop pool and jacuzzi, is poised for auction.
The current proprietors, Gavin Holland, director of AusMed Innovations, and his partner Kelly McNamara, owner of the Longevity Lounge in Double Bay, reminisce about the apartment’s heyday overlooking Hyde Park and the harbor, where they believe numerous lively gatherings took place.
“During that era, there was quite a bit of socializing happening here,” Holland reflects.

The apartment, comprising two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a double garage, situated in the iconic Connaught building at 2704/187 Liverpool St, Sydney, carries a $3.3 million guide for its upcoming auction on February 28, facilitated by Ayre Real Estate agents Brody O’Brien and Adrian Wilson.
Hutchence and Minogue resided in the apartment on the 27th floor, just below the communal rooftop pool, from 1989 to 1991. Their tumultuous relationship, as recounted in the 2019 documentary “Mystify,” is described by Minogue as both loving and doomed from the outset, yet it introduced her to new experiences.
The rooftop pool and spa has recently had a $2.5m reno.

Having recently invested $2.5 million in refurbishing the rooftop amenities, including the pool and spa, the current owners are preparing to relocate to Sydney’s northern beaches to be closer to family.
Reflecting on their time in the apartment, Holland remarks, “Kylie and Michael must have enjoyed socializing on the balcony and celebrating New Year’s Eve as well.”

The Connaught, completed in 1984, stands as one of Sydney’s earliest high-rise strata apartment buildings, housing a roster of notable figures including reporter Jana Wendt, film critic Margaret Pomeranz, singer Barry Crocker, and entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins.
The building’s history also includes less savory incidents, such as the residence of infamous criminals like Christopher Dale Flannery and Tony Byrne, whose daughter, model Caroline Byrne, met a tragic end at The Gap.
The balcony is the largest in the building.

There are two bedrooms, two bathrooms and double parking.
With its rich history and luxurious amenities, the apartment at The Connaught represents a unique offering in Sydney’s real estate landscape.
