Former Prime Minister Bob Hawke and wife Blanche have sold their multimillion-dollar Northbridge home in an off market deal.

With the exact sale price yet to be revealed, it is believed that the couple sold the home for around the $15 million mark.

The Australian reports that the couple are now planning to downsize to a newly built apartment in the Sydney CBD, following the sale to a local buyer.

According to CoreLogic data, Mr Hawke purchased the property in May 1991 for $1.23 million — seven months before he was ousted from the top job by Paul Keating in December 1991.
