Beloved former Channel 10 weatherman Mike Larkan has launched his own auctioneering business following his post-TV career change.
The new venture, named Red Auctions, will be on hand for agencies who want to outsource to a specialist auctioneer, and will train agents to become auctioneers in the future.
“It’s the best thing ever,” Larkan said of his new round.
“In Melbourne, it’s all about footy, weather and auctions. I don’t play footy, but I’ve done the weather and now I’m doing auctions.”
The familiar face presented the nightly weather for nearly 25 years before his departure from Channel 10 in 2020.
He then joined McGrath Sandringham as an agent before selling homes under the hammer with EYS Auctions.
Larkan said that running his own business will allow him to sell more homes than ever before, especially during daylight savings hours where he plans to increase twilight auctions.
