It was a chance encounter of an old, neglected For Sale sign that led Queenstown couple Kat and Rik van Dijk to build a breathtaking home with the best vantage point of the place they call paradise.
Five years earlier, they had escaped the hustle of Auckland and moved to a semi-rural sprawling home in one of Queenstown’s outer suburbs.
It was a dream come true, but the home – while beautiful – felt removed from the energy of the adventure capital where both Rik and Kat work, and it was high maintenance.
