Queensland homeowners on a brand new street are demanding answers after they were told their brand new properties would be resumed and bulldozed to make way for an expansion of a freeway.
Charmaine and James Jackson moved into their Griffin house seven weeks ago and said they’ve been left heartbroken by the news.
“I haven’t been able to stop crying for I don’t know how long. I look at the floors and burst into tears thinking of everything we worked so hard for and saved for is just for nothing, for a highway,” Mrs Jackson said.
“I didn’t believe it at first. Like, we thought it was a scam, this email that we got.
“And when we called the transport … they confirmed it was real.”
“We don’t know whose fault it is,” Mr Jackson said.

The couple said they were told the upgrade could be 10 years from now, while waiting for the funding.
“But just the thought of waiting around in our dream house for the government to come and take it away, is just, it’s horrible,” Mrs Jackson said.
Simran Kour moved in four weeks ago.
