An international competition to re-design Oriental Bay’s disused band rotunda site has revealed unique and exciting possibilities for Wellington’s future beachfront.
The competition, run by design educators’ association ADEDU, attracted entries from as far afield as Argentina, Poland and South Korea, with the winning entry coming from Russia.
“Wellington Wave”, designed by Stanislaw Michalowski was a “bold sculptural statement based on marine life form[s]”, according to the jury.
