Big-hearted trades and suppliers have put the final touches on the 2020 Henley Homes and Villawood Properties Charity Auction House, with all proceeds from the no-reserve auction going to the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

More than 100 tradies have donated their labour and resources during the six-month build, in helping to construct the stunning Electra 35 by Henley Homes – a 35 square, 4-bedroom family home, located at 5 Newry Street, Wollert, on land donated by Villawood, and is part of their aspirational Rathdowne community.

This year’s Charity House Auction represents Henley’s achievement of 27 years building and donating homes, raising more than $15.46 million for the Good Friday Appeal to date. It is the 11th year of Villawood generously donating land.

Going under the hammer on Good Friday 10th April will be the beautiful family home featuring five living areas, home theatre and expansive Butler’s Pantry, built on a the 512mblock, as well as the furniture, landscaping, SMEG™ appliances, soft furnishings and decorative pieces. All proceeds will go to the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

It has been a true labour of love for many of the tradies, with many of them having a personal connection with the Royal Children’s Hospital.

For 24-year old Jake Jessop, one of the carpenters who worked on this year’s Henley Homes Charity House Auction, the build has been an especially emotional and personal one.

“When my now three-year old daughter, Kaylee, was born, she was immediately rushed to the Royal Children’s Hospital.  She was struggling to breathe and was not moving. What should have been the most joyful time in our life, became extremely stressful, as the hospital team worked relentlessly to save Kaylee,” Jake said.

“Our little girl spent a week at the Royal Children’s Hospital recovering. We know that without the hospital staff’s commitment and care for Kaylee, she would not be the feisty toddler who she is today – a vibrant and very healthy child, ready to take on the world!”

“It is very humbling to see all the tradies and suppliers come together for such a worthy cause. I am so proud to be part of this extraordinary build, knowing that every dollar from the auction will go to the Royal Children’s Hospital.”
