One of Christchurch’s grand old houses has been put up for sale and could face demolition after its heritage protection was removed.

The house, Greystones, is on a large site on the corner of Glandovey and Idris roads in Fendalton, which is among the city’s most prized suburbs.

Built in the 1920s, it was badly damaged in the earthquakes and is for sale in as-is condition.

The house site on a 3000sqm of streamside land and is owned by the Westall Trust, which bought it for just over $1.6m in late 2015.
