A luxury apartment within one of Wellington’s most historic buildings has come to market for the first time.

Located inside the New Zealand Heritage-listed Missions to Seamen building at 7 Stout Steet, apartment 1A is being sold by premium real estate agency New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty (NZSIR).

NZSIR sales associate Flora Greig says properties with this level of historic significance are rare to the open market.

Built in 1903, the Missions to Seamen building was designed by Chrichton and McKay, who conceived many of Wellington’s landmark buildings, and displays an eclectic mix of Gothic, Romanesque and Classical architecture on a prime central corner site. It was reinvigorated in 1994 with the development of 10 private apartments, with each apartment owner allocated a share of the freehold.
