The dream of home ownership is fading fast for many Hamilton house hunters.
A housing survey has revealed that Hamilton’s median house price is seven times the median income in the city, the fourth most “severely unaffordable” market in the country.
And real estate leaders have a mixed response to whether it is harder to get a foot on the Hamilton property ladder.
But some say it is still possible to find an affordable house in several up-and-coming suburbs in Hamilton.
The 16th Demographia International Housing Affordability Survey recently showed Hamilton followed behind Napier-Hastings, Auckland and Tauranga in unaffordability ratings.
