Homebuyers keen on seaside living are giving house prices a boost in Christchurch’s southeastern suburbs.
Sumner, and the hills of Scarborough and Richmond above it, have recorded the city’s highest increases in property values in the past year, according to real estate analyst CoreLogic.
Values for flat parts of Sumner jumped 10.6 per cent jump in the year to February, followed by a 5.9 per cent rise for Richmond Hill, and 5.3 per cent for Scarborough.
The figures from CoreLogic, which provides data for state-owned valuer Quotable Value, show Scarborough remains Christchurch’s priciest neighbourhood with a median (mid-point) value of $1.16 million.
