A family of five has effectively been left homeless after a dispute about paperwork delayed their rental of a tiny house.

Rebecca Edgar, her partner and three children aged two, five and seven have been sleeping on mattresses on her sister’s lounge room floor for more than three months after their previous tenancy ended in March.

The family paid a deposit to rent a new tiny house cabin in February, expecting to be able to install it on Edgar’s sister’s land within weeks.

But despite a lengthy back and forth with cabin provider Coastal Cabins, the family are still waiting for their cabin more than three months later.
