While some celebrities are splurging on lavish homes, others are choosing to downsize their lifestyles. Both local and international stars have been active in the real estate market, making significant purchases and sales.
Some celebrities are busying spend millions and millions on glamour homes, while others have decided to scale back on their lifestyles.
One of the most notable recent moves involved radio icons Jackie “O” Henderson and Kyle Sandilands, who both independently acquired multimillion-dollar properties. Henderson sold her Woollahra home for $13 million and relocated to Clovelly, purchasing a 1960s home for $13.25 million in March last year.

Sandilands, alongside his wife Tegan Kynaston, bought a stunning home in Sydney’s Vaucluse with views of the harbor and city for over $13 million. The couple also owns a $3 million property in Glenorie, which they plan to use as a weekend retreat.
Other radio personalities have also been busy in the property market. Ray Hadley and his wife Sophie purchased a five-bedroom weekender on the Bouddi Peninsula with views over Brisbane Water. Meanwhile, Carrie Bickmore, former host of The Project, sold her Byron Bay property for $4.3 million amid her divorce from Chris Walker.

In 2023, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban expanded their Sydney investment portfolio by purchasing a $7.72 million unit in the Latitude Building, adding to their collection of properties in the Mirvac-built apartment block.
Entrepreneur and PR maven Roxy Jacenko sold her Vaucluse home for around $16 million before relocating to Singapore.
Sydney Swans legend Buddy Franklin and his wife Jesinta sold their Rose Bay luxury unit to former NRL boss Todd Greenberg for nearly $5 million. The couple then moved to a Gold Coast hinterland estate, which they purchased for about $8.75 million.

Swimming champion Ian Thorpe also made a move, buying a unit in the Edgecliff’s Harry Seidler-designed Arlington complex for $2.79 million, while his nearby Woollahra townhouse was leased after passing in at auction.

Former Rabbitohs star Sam Burgess sold his Little Bay unit for $1.212 million before heading to England to coach the Warrington Wolves. NRL star Latrell Mitchell listed his 222-hectare cattle farm near Taree for $1.38 million, though it hasn’t yet sold.

Fitness guru Michelle Bridges had to adjust the asking price of her Southern Highlands estate multiple times before it eventually sold for $4.2 million. Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Michael “Flea” Balzary sold his NSW south coast retreat, a property where the band wrote some of their best-selling music, for about $2.47 million.
