A prominent Sydney real estate agent who attacked two women – including one with a samurai sword – during a drug and alcohol binge has breached his bail conditions.

Karl Adon Howard, 46, appeared in the NSW District Court on Friday to have his bail conditions altered.

His lawyer John Sutton told the court Howard had breached his bail by drinking alcohol, despite his strict conditions forbidding him from going near drugs or liquor.

Acting Judge Graeme Henson told the court it was “a bit of a worry” as Howard was caught on video at a licenced premises.

“There are many documents regarding him not taking drugs or drinking alcohol,” he said.

After Howard was caught, he was sent to custody at Metropolitan Remand and Reception Centre but Acting Judge Henson allowed him to be released back into the community and return to rehab.

Mr Sutton told the court Howard would be going to a Sydney rehabilitation clinic, located in Bronte in the city’s eastern suburbs.

“In the event he arrives at the clinic and is refused he is to reside overnight with his brother and to be admitted the following day,” Mr Sutton said.

The 46-year-old is due to be sentenced later this month after he previously admitted to attacking two women during a terrifying ordeal in his Sydney inner-west home.

He was also found not guilty of more serious charges.

The court was previously told the two women were at Howard’s Annandale unit in February 2021 when he began acting erratically and making violent gestures.

The court heard the real estate agent was in the midst of a drug psychosis during his sword-attack.

The real estate agent told the women he had taken valium and Viagra and he was seen consuming large quantities of cocaine throughout the night, the court was told during his trial last year.

Howard was in the middle of a cocaine bender at the time of the incident and hadn’t slept for seven days, the court was told.

He admitted assaulting one woman and causing her actual bodily harm and recklessly causing grievous bodily harm to the second woman.

After fleeing his Ferris St home, Howard was captured on CCTV running into a nearby laneway and jumping into the back of a ute where he covered himself with a shade cloth as police drove past.

He covered himself in the tarp before staggering out of the tray and running. He was arrested minutes later.

In police bodycam footage played to the court, Howard can be seen writhing on the ground and growling like an animal at officers as he was arrested.
