Australia’s Richest Billionaire Gina Rinehart Expands Her Property Empire in 2024
In 2024, mining magnate Gina Rinehart once again topped The List: Australia’s Richest 250, with an astounding net worth of $50.48 billion. Known for her dominance in the mining sector, Rinehart is also building a lucrative property empire, acquiring high-value assets that extend her wealth far beyond mining.
Gina Rinehart’s Expansive Property Portfolio
Gina Rinehart’s property investments reflect a strategic approach, with acquisitions spanning across Australia’s prime agricultural and luxury real estate markets. She owns over a dozen cattle stations and a growing number of luxury homes, with her holdings generating millions in revenue.
One standout purchase in her portfolio is a massive 918,000-hectare cattle station in Queensland, which skyrocketed in value from $14 million to a staggering $54 million. Additionally, her investment in S Kidman & Co, a historic cattle company tied to her maternal grandfather, added nearly 4 million hectares to her agricultural holdings. This $386.5 million investment, made in partnership with Shanghai CRED, doubled her portfolio of cattle stations to 21 properties, a move that was part of a flourishing $200 million deal.

Lavish Luxury Homes and Record-Setting Purchases
Beyond agriculture, Rinehart’s portfolio includes some of Australia’s most sought-after luxury homes. Her real estate ventures extend to Queensland’s prestigious Sunshine Beach, where she made record-breaking purchases. One of these properties, a beach house acquired for $9.75 million, had been purchased by fellow entrepreneur Therese Rein just six months earlier for $6.75 million.
In the same suburb, Rinehart also bought a home for $11.2 million and set a new price record with the purchase of another property for $21.5 million. Her spending spree didn’t stop there—a Hancock Prospecting affiliate disbursed $34 million on one of Queensland’s most expensive homes, further expanding her portfolio.

Rinehart’s Cattle Stations: The Backbone of Her Empire
Rinehart’s agricultural holdings are just as impressive as her luxury homes. She maintains vast tracts of land, including 1.5 million hectares in Queensland, under the S Kidman & Co banner. This land is strategically positioned near key ports and markets, providing opportunities for further expansion.
Her holdings also include a 400,000-hectare property in Fitzroy Crossing, Western Australia, and 384,451 hectares in the Pilbara, a region rich in mining potential. Additionally, she purchased Chrome Park, a 51-hectare farm in Victoria for $8.6 million, known for prestigious livestock and horse breeding.
Continuous Expansion and Strategic Investments
Even as Rinehart sells off some properties, including a 550,000-hectare Northern Territory station, her focus remains on expanding her empire. Her property investments have been a critical part of her wealth-building strategy, with both agricultural and high-end residential properties generating significant returns.
Rinehart’s ability to diversify her holdings, from cattle stations larger than Japan to multimillion-dollar beachfront homes, has cemented her status as a property mogul alongside her mining legacy.
