Lady Gaga’s longtime dog walker, Ryan Fischer, was shot in LA by a pair of robbers who stole two of the singer’s three beloved French bulldogs, Koji and Gustav. The third pooch, Miss Asia, was not taken.
As fans grapple with whether this was a random dog-napping or whether thieves targeted the dogs of the celebrity specifically, it begs the question — are dog-nappings and other robberies common in the area that Lady Gaga lives? Sadly, the answer is yes.
Dog-nappings across the state of California have been more common in the past few months than ever before. Specifically, French bulldogs, a breed which can sell for upwards of $10,000.
Due to their small, easy-to-snatch size and the breed’s popularity among celebrities, there has been a booming black market for the pups.
The “Devastated” singer, 34, is offering a $500,000 reward for any information about the dogs that leads to their recovery. She was in Italy when she first heard the news.
Despite travelling all over the world for her career, Lady Gaga’s homes all tend to be in California, with the exception of a New York pad. See the singing sensation’s full real estate portfolio.
