PHOTO: Super Bowl 2022
For 2022 Super Bowl LVI the Los Angeles Rams are battling it out against the Cincinnati Bengals for the glory of winning America’s biggest game of the year.
The lineup includes some of the top-earning players in the world – and a halftime show with megastars worthy of a festival lineup – which begs the question: how do the other half live? With brimming bank accounts, it’s no surprise these athletes and celebrities have invested in some pretty swish property.
From Joe Burrow and Odell Beckham Jr to Dr Dre, these are the homes of Super Bowl LVI’s biggest stars.
Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford: Hidden Hills
After transferring from the Detroit Lions to the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, Stafford “scored a local real estate touchdown,” according to Dirt. The star quarterback snapped up an off-market deal on a home still under construction in the gated and celebrity-filled Hidden Hills enclave, dropping a cool $27.5 million (US$19.6m) in the process.
As it was new construction, there’s no listing photos of the inside of the home. But renders show an incredible multi-gabled structure with floor-to-ceiling glass, giving off a contemporary farmhouse vibe and connecting the outdoors to the indoors seamlessly. The property takes in gorgeous views of the surrounding hills.
Stafford’s wife Kelly has also shared glimpses of their home on social media, recently giving us a peek at their stunning completed kitchen, showing off the large marble islands, black hardware and timber cabinetry.
Guests are welcome to the sprawling 1400sqm home by grand steps lined with olive trees and a stunning all-glass foyer with feature lighting.
The home centres around entertaining, with a grand central gallery for large gatherings flanked by indoor and outdoor lounges and a bar. Outside, there’s an outdoor kitchen, sheltered poolside dining terrace plus a beautiful garden with shaded pergola and seating for up to 50.
Inside, there’s a library, den, wine cellar and large screening room, a gym and stone and marble spa. All of the seven bedroom suites are upstairs. Add in the 12-car garage, guest house and basketball court on the two acres and this is one incredible property.
Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow: Ohio (with two unlikely housemates)
Joe Burrow signed a four-year, $50 million (US$36m) contract with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2020 (plus a $33.7 million signing bonus!), so the quarterback isn’t exactly strapped for cash.
Despite this, Burrow lives with his parents in a four-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home in Athens County, Ohio.
Burrow’s father has jokingly said Burrows is “a 23-year-old millionaire living in his parent’s basement,” and there are rumours his bedroom still has a Star Wars theme.
According to property records, the Burrows purchased the home in March 2005 for $240,000.
The property is on a 0.3-acre lot, which is just enough room for the Burrow boys to toss a pig skin around the back yard.
Rams wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr: New York
Beckham Jr took the NFL by storm ever since he became the fastest-ever receiver to nail 200 receptions and earned the title of 2014 Rookie of the Year. OBJ’s parents were both athletes and his godfather is none other than basketball legend, Shaquille O’Neal – it seems greatness runs in the family.
