DES MOINES – 55-year-old Vera Anaya-Hermosillo posed as a real estate agent to sell homes to families, taking thousands of their savings with no return.
“It’s a hard situation, but I believe she owes a lot of people a lot of sorrys for what they’ve done,” Crystal Alvarez told Local 5 in June 2018.
Anaya-Hermosillo was sentenced to 75 years in prison Wednesday after pleading guilty to 13 total counts of theft. Anaya-Hermosillo would pose as a realtor, take payments from potential buyers and never fulfill contracts.
“Their dignity has been impacted,” said Sgt. Paul Parizek with the Des Moines Police Department. “Their security has been impacted.”
